“Emotions are alien to me. I am a scientist.” -Spock.

”It [being a Vulcan] means to adopt a philosophy, a way of life which is logical and beneficial. We cannot disregard that philosophy merely for personal gain, no matter how important that gain might be.” – Spock. Vulcans are void of emotional bias. Vulcans value logic and wisdom over the simple pleasures emotions bring. Through meditation and, assuredly, strong physical restraint, Vulcans are no longer hindered by emotions such as hate, jealousy, pride, envy, and, most of all, love. Love is the irrational human emotion that is the gateway to all of the other illogical tendencies that is said to “make us human.” It would be more accurate to say that emotions and self-indulgence are that which make us more primitive and inhuman than the animals we “justifiably” slaughter because of their lack of human “qualities”. Humans are the only species that will consciously choose to commit atrocities solely for personal gain and then use emotion as a shield to block and dodge consequences. “Where there’s no emotion, there’s no motive for violence.” It is only logical to assume that peace would be derived from an “emotionally controlled” society. “Earthmen like Rameses, Alexander, Caesar, Napoleon, Hitler, Lee Kuan. Your whole earth history is made up of men seeking absolute power.” The idea that one would “miss” these emotions is illogical simply because to miss is to desire, and being void of emotions, one would not desire. “If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed.”—Albert Einstein. “Ahimsa means infinite love, which again means infinite capacity for suffering.” – Gandhi. Spock, along with the rest of the Vulcans, embody what all great minds past where hinting at; an emotionally controlled society that is close enough to the point of being emotionless that their actions do not reflect their emotional impediments, and have enough remaining to accept that things unknown are possible (i.e. other universes.) Also, to be able to ponder things beyond mathematical certainty that machines and other wholly logical, temperate, beings are, or would be, incapable of.

To adopt the philosophy of the IDIC would not mean to attempt to prove ones intellect is higher than another's, for that would lead way to pride. “ I object to intellect without discipline; I object to power without constructive purpose.” Vulcans function on logic and the continuing quest to achieve enlightenment. They are not afraid to question that which they do not know, simply because they do not fear. It would therefore be illogical of a human to adopt the Vulcan philosophy in attempts to gain envy and jealousy from an idea that is more aimed towards continued questioning and not necessarily advanced intellect. Quaintly put “I’m not as think as I smart I am”. Humans would no longer fear ridicule and no longer waste time with emotions but spend it learning and advancing. “Pain is of the mind, the mind can be controlled.” “Deriving sustenance from emotion is not unknown in the galaxy. And fear is among the strongest and most violent of the emotions.” Humans would no longer have cause to fear. It would eventually lead to peace. “It would be illogical to kill without reason.” “It is more rational to sacrifice one life than six.” Peace and prosperity of the civilization would be preserved. Humans would not be ill equipped to maintain civilization through violence if it was necessary for survival. It would be very unlikely, though, that in an almost emotionless and highly logical/temperate society that necessity would require violence.

These are my views, goals even. I would appreciate any feedback.
