When I was young, my Mommy got too busy selling Tupperware or something so she decided to put me in front of a TV to keep me occupied. Not knowing that through out my formative years, I was sucked into the lies and deception by the thing called a television. Living the lives of the TV actors, me and many of my young friends scorned the words “play outside” because we wanted to be inside corroding our minds with such filth as Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, Sesame Street, Lambchops, and a Never-ending list of cartoons.
Year after year, wasting my youth in front of a 13” box giving off radiation, I had become addicted. I never even knew it. I would always care about if a GI Joe got killed and it was the largest blow to my childhood when they cancelled He-Man. I was devastated… now, who the hell cares? Every child who was lured into the trap has been living in a made up world. Just like how the News has controlled our lives. Not only do they create their own world but they also tell us that what they say is reality. LIES. News tells truths but only part truths, never the whole truth, so they can take a bad incident like a plane crash and say, “Delta Saves 13” when 90 people died, but who cares about 90 dead people when 13 are alive AND THAT SUCKS.
Another wrong of TV to our society is that trendy, little, punk rock, 7th graders are growing up with MTV (the worst bullshit ON TV) and think that being a punk means to do drugs, to be stupid, to be trendy, to be slutty, to be sexy… and ON.
Advertisements have killed me. Recently I have come down from my room to find my brother in the family room with the TV blaring some lame shitty song that resembles punk to sell Fruit Loops. I must say using punk to sell beer and cereal reeks of 20-year-old roller-blading trend-punks.
When I came to the realization that my life had been controlled by TV, I felt an anger that I have never felt before. I say we:
1. Stop watching TV
2. Encourage others to do something with Life instead of losing youth.
3. Stop the trends/stop the trend of punk.
4. Organize against Big Businesses that bluntly lie through television each day.
Don’t turn into a bitter waste of space.
Live a life; it’s why you’re here.
